Vineyard Family Picnic

One of my favorite ways to get out of the house is to take a family picnic. This can be as simple as eating in your backyard, at your local park, or my personal favorite, in the vineyards! I’ve posted a bunch about how I absolutely adore the Untertürkheim vineyards, and how lucky we are that they are so close to us! It was a beautiful autumn weekend here in Stuttgart and we decided to spend our Sunday picnicing in the vines. I quickly made PB&Js, sliced a few bell peppers and threw in a package of hummus (my kids […]

A Very Happy Quarantine Birthday at Home

Hey friends!  Last weekend I turned 32 and had such a sweet day spending it at home with my husband.  It landed on Memorial day this year, and while we had a fun outing with friends wine walking through our local vineyards on Sunday, I wasn’t really expecting much for my actual birthday.  I mean, usually we celebrate it by spending a week in Mykonos – so the fact that we were “stuck at home” without availability to travel anywhere wasn’t getting me very excited.  But, spending it at home this year with Dave really was so sweet! I told […]

Stuttgart in Bloom

Hello and happy weekend to you!  How are you doing?  I’ve been joking to Dave that my life feels like a movie or tv show where time passes and the person is sitting in one place (for me, the dining table that has become our makeshift work bench.. eek), as the sun rises and sets, rises and sets. Is it just me, or do the days (and months!) seem to be slipping by?  How is it already the end of May! The only thing keeping the days feel like ‘Groundhog Day’ around here have been watching Stuttgart come into full […]

A Quarantine Date Night at Home: Dining al Fresco

I wanted to share the easiest and most fun date night, right in the comforts of your home!  While we’re all quarantined at home for the foreseeable future, and while the sun shine is tempting us and the warm breeze floats by, I decided to have a little impromptu date night at home by dining al fresco!  It was so simple and easy to implement, and we had so. much. fun. We originally wanted to walk to the Karlshöhe this evening, but also wanted to make a homemade pizza and I figured it would be too hard to transport a […]

An Update from Stuttgart and the Coronavirus, Sunday March 29th

How’s everyone feeling?  Dave and I officially haven’t seen or been near anyone else for 17 days and counting, since David arrived home Friday morning the 13th (he was in the US since March 1 for work).  We both started teleworking that Friday and haven’t been into work since the 12th, similar to many of you. If you are an essential worker, I really do applaud you, it is not easy to go out every day and help keep us all afloat.  Thank you! Today I’m sharing updates on Stuttgart’s Coronavirus restrictions and what we’ve specifically been up to during […]

Social Distancing by Spending Time in Nature

Hi friends, I hope you are all doing well!  We have been working from home and staying in all week and it feels like I can give a big sigh of relief now that we’ve made it through to the weekend! If you haven’t left your house in days and your city allows it, taking walks through nature can be a really nice way to clear your headspace.  We started doing this at least once a day and it has made working from home so much more appealing. Our flat is a short walk to the Karlshöhe and it is […]

An Update from Stuttgart and the Coronavirus, Saturday March 14

Hi friends, I hope you’re doing well and staying healthy.  I wanted to write a post on how things are here in Stuttgart, Germany in regards to the coronavirus or COVID-19.  A lot has transpired over the past few days, as I’m sure it has for you as well.  I have been tracking the virus loosely as it spread exponentially through China, and of course much closer as it took hold in Italy and has basically grinded the country to a stop. Background and How Close we are to Italy First, some background.  Stuttgart is the capital of Baden-Württemburg, one […]

First Signs of Spring on the Stuttgart Karlshoehe

I’ve realized while I love living in a pretty city, I feel the most energized when I walk through green spaces.  You know I absolutely love running through the Scholssgarten and walking the Untertürkheim vineyards, but if I feel like staying closer to home the Karlshöhe is the perfect ‘city escape’ without ever leaving the city! This winter has been very mild and filled with so much sun that we’re already starting to see buds on some trees and pre-spring signs throughout the city.  Every morning we now wake up to birds chirping non-stop, it really is exciting to have […]
