A Quarantine Date Night at Home: Dining al Fresco

I wanted to share the easiest and most fun date night, right in the comforts of your home!  While we’re all quarantined at home for the foreseeable future, and while the sun shine is tempting us and the warm breeze floats by, I decided to have a little impromptu date night at home by dining al fresco!  It was so simple and easy to implement, and we had so. much. fun.

We originally wanted to walk to the Karlshöhe this evening, but also wanted to make a homemade pizza and I figured it would be too hard to transport a piping hot pizza up the hill 🙂 . So last minute I decided to eat upstairs on our rooftop balcony instead.  Let me tell you, it made for the perfect evening!  I started thinking, why aren’t we doing this every night!?

We made our homemade pizza in the oven with all the toppings, opened a bottle or rosé, and brought our table setting upstairs.

David poured the wine, and our date night commenced!

By the way, if you haven’t tried homemade pizza yet, now is the perfect time to do so.  We absolutely love it!

This is as good as it gets, guys.  Quarantine style date!  This actually ended up being one of my favorite evenings we’ve had in a while.  Dining al fresco (also known as: outside) makes me happy!

I have to admit, our view is pretty phenomenal.  We live on the top floor of a large art nouveau style house and actually share our rooftop with our house neighbor, but hardly ever use the rooftop at the same time.  Our view looks over the entire city of Stuttgart and surrounding hills, with a large, beautiful church right in front of us.  It is pretty magical.  Not shown in the pictures is the sound of the church bells ringing every 15 minutes!  Shortly after we started eating, the bells rang and rang a nice sing-song at 7:15pm which happens some nights, and on Sunday mornings.  It was pure magic!

Next time we will bring up some candles for even more ambiance.  But for this night, the warm breeze and the church bells were just enough!

After we finished dinner, a little dance party ensued, just the two of us 😉 .  We pushed the table aside, and had our own dance floor!  We love to shag dance, South Carolina’s state dance, and that’s just what we did!

Our al fresco date night was simply magical.  It really reminded me that the simple things are truly what make me happiest, and I will always cherish this uninterrupted time with my favorite person in the world.

So grab your plates, bring them outside, and dine alfresco with us!  You won’t regret it.

xx
