Social Distancing by Spending Time in Nature

Hi friends, I hope you are all doing well!  We have been working from home and staying in all week and it feels like I can give a big sigh of relief now that we’ve made it through to the weekend!

If you haven’t left your house in days and your city allows it, taking walks through nature can be a really nice way to clear your headspace.  We started doing this at least once a day and it has made working from home so much more appealing.

Our flat is a short walk to the Karlshöhe and it is the perfect park to hike each day, offering paved paths, grassy spots, even a vineyard and beyond that a small forest with winding trails.  The park rises above the surrounding city so it is filled with gorgeous views from all sides.  We’ve been able to notice the daily changes that spring brings with buds are starting to open and trees beginning to bloom, and even fruit has been growing on some of the vines and trees.  The best part during these crazy times is that you aren’t around any people!

If you are feeling ill, make sure to call your doctor and follow his orders.  Otherwise getting out in the sun is important to our mental and physical health.  Just make sure to wash your hands before you leave and as soon as you get home, don’t touch any surfaces, and keep your family unit while maintaining distance from others.

We’ve been enjoying our nature hikes so much that we decided to have a picnic.  We packed up our picnic basket, filled it with meats, cheeses, apples, and our waterproof picnic blanket, and found ourselves a nice spot in the grass overlooking the city.

The daffodils are bloomed, the sun was shining, and it was really nice to just enjoy each other and soak up some much needed Vitamin D.  A little bit of peace and relaxation in our own little bubble. 🙂

If you have some nature trails or a park within walking distance to your house, it might be beneficial to walk through them for your mental and physical health.  It’s fun to watch nature bloom right in front of your eyes, and get some exercise while you’re at it!  Just remember to keep to your family unit and stay away from others!  Sending lots of love.

xx
