First Signs of Spring on the Stuttgart Karlshoehe

I’ve realized while I love living in a pretty city, I feel the most energized when I walk through green spaces.  You know I absolutely love running through the Scholssgarten and walking the Untertürkheim vineyards, but if I feel like staying closer to home the Karlshöhe is the perfect ‘city escape’ without ever leaving the city!

This winter has been very mild and filled with so much sun that we’re already starting to see buds on some trees and pre-spring signs throughout the city.  Every morning we now wake up to birds chirping non-stop, it really is exciting to have warmer weather already!  Earlier today it was gloriously sunny and I sporadically thought to walk up the Karlshöhe to see what I could find.

The grass on much of the Karls hill is currently covered in the prettiest little Crocus flowers in hues of yellow, purple, and white.  These flowers bloom even earlier than daffodils and are the prettiest promise for spring days ahead!  They remind me of little wild tulips. 🙂

Isn’t it so pretty here?

I love the contrast of city and park.  Keep climbing up and you’ll reach where the summer biergarten is, but in the off season is the perfect relaxing spot to enjoy the sunshine and views.

The area is popular during biergarten season with Stuttgart’s prettiest venue, but it is so enjoyable spring, summer, and fall.  I had such a nice little Sunday stroll on the Karlshöhe, admiring how each season brings on new changes and soaking up the sun!  The hill is a pleasant park that has plenty of benches to relax on, lots of playgrounds for little ones, beach volleyball, a basketball hoop, and even some outdoor exercise equipment.

If you haven’t been recently, do yourself a favor and take a nice city break on the Karlshöhe while pre-spring is in bloom!  I might see you there. 🙂

xx
