An Update from Stuttgart and the Coronavirus, Sunday March 29th

How’s everyone feeling?  Dave and I officially haven’t seen or been near anyone else for 17 days and counting, since David arrived home Friday morning the 13th (he was in the US since March 1 for work).  We both started teleworking that Friday and haven’t been into work since the 12th, similar to many of you. If you are an essential worker, I really do applaud you, it is not easy to go out every day and help keep us all afloat.  Thank you! Today I’m sharing updates on Stuttgart’s Coronavirus restrictions and what we’ve specifically been up to during […]

Social Distancing by Spending Time in Nature

Hi friends, I hope you are all doing well!  We have been working from home and staying in all week and it feels like I can give a big sigh of relief now that we’ve made it through to the weekend! If you haven’t left your house in days and your city allows it, taking walks through nature can be a really nice way to clear your headspace.  We started doing this at least once a day and it has made working from home so much more appealing. Our flat is a short walk to the Karlshöhe and it is […]

An Update from Stuttgart and the Coronavirus, Saturday March 14

Hi friends, I hope you’re doing well and staying healthy.  I wanted to write a post on how things are here in Stuttgart, Germany in regards to the coronavirus or COVID-19.  A lot has transpired over the past few days, as I’m sure it has for you as well.  I have been tracking the virus loosely as it spread exponentially through China, and of course much closer as it took hold in Italy and has basically grinded the country to a stop. Background and How Close we are to Italy First, some background.  Stuttgart is the capital of Baden-Württemburg, one […]

First Signs of Spring on the Stuttgart Karlshoehe

I’ve realized while I love living in a pretty city, I feel the most energized when I walk through green spaces.  You know I absolutely love running through the Scholssgarten and walking the Untertürkheim vineyards, but if I feel like staying closer to home the Karlshöhe is the perfect ‘city escape’ without ever leaving the city! This winter has been very mild and filled with so much sun that we’re already starting to see buds on some trees and pre-spring signs throughout the city.  Every morning we now wake up to birds chirping non-stop, it really is exciting to have […]

Châtel and the Portes du Soleil: Where to Ski and Eat on the French and Swiss Ski Slopes

Hi friends!  I wanted to highlight one of my favorite ski areas, les Portes du Soleil and the French alpine village of Châtel.  We’ve been three out of the last four years and have gotten to know it well!  This last trip was such a magical time with days full of skiing and phenomenal mountainside restau, rants and evenings spent cooking in our apartment then snuggling up on the couch watching French tv over a bottle of wine. 🙂  If you know me well, that pretty much sums up my dream life, haha!!  The Chatel and the Portes du Soleil is […]

Reflections on 2019 and the Last Decade

In the last days of 2019 I have been reflecting on the year and subsequently, this past decade before we ring in 2020 (which sounds so futuristic!). 2019 was a significant year for me because it was the first time that I have experienced an extreme growth. I could tell I’ve been going through a great shift in my life goals, outlook, what I believe is important. At times it’s been quite uncomfortable, but I think all change is that way. Before I explain what I mean, I wanted to quickly look back on the decade. It has been quite […]

The Perfect Zermatt Ski Holiday, Without Breaking the Bank

Skiing the gorgeous Matterhorn is a dream for any skier, but it’s no surprise Switzerland is rather pricey compared to the rest of Europe.  I’m here to show how to have an inspiring bucket-list worthy ski holiday to Zermatt while keeping some cash in your pocket! Tip #1: Book an Apartment with a Kitchen My number one tip how to keep costs down while still having the perfect relaxing holiday is to book an apartment with a kitchen.  Do this and you’ll be all smiles like me up there 🙂 .
