Châtel and the Portes du Soleil: Where to Ski and Eat on the French and Swiss Ski Slopes

Hi friends!  I wanted to highlight one of my favorite ski areas, les Portes du Soleil and the French alpine village of Châtel.  We’ve been three out of the last four years and have gotten to know it well!  This last trip was such a magical time with days full of skiing and phenomenal mountainside restau, rants and evenings spent cooking in our apartment then snuggling up on the couch watching French tv over a bottle of wine. 🙂  If you know me well, that pretty much sums up my dream life, haha!!  The Chatel and the Portes du Soleil is […]

Paris Medieval Tapestries, Carousels, and Sunshine along the Seine

After a fun Friday in Paris, we started Saturday with a delicious breakfast at Dose Rue Mouffetard, complete with the best looking avo toast and a fresh salad for him, yogurt with granola and berries for her, and cappuccinos and fresh pressed juice du jour to share.  If you’re in the 5th, it is an all star breakfast cafe!! We then headed to the Cluny museum, or the Museum of Middle Ages and one of my personal favorites.  It is currently being renovated through 2020 (much more modern now – hopefully the medieval building will be incorporated back in after […]

Paris Catacombs, Colorful Streets, and Art Nouveau Dreams

We headed to Paris for a long weekend, something we try to do each year to celebrate our engagement, and this time felt like the perfect mix of relaxation and culture.  The highlights for me included a very Art Nouveau lunch, seeing the Lady and the Unicorn tapestries at the Cluny museum, and soaking up some glorious sunshine along the banks of the Seine on Sunday afternoon. We arrived late Thursday night to our airbnb in the 5th arrondissement and grabbed a quick verre de vin Chablis at le Café Saint Médard before heading to bed.  Friday started with breakfast along Rue […]

Ultimate Amsterdam Guide

Amsterdam is such a beautiful city, with the tree lined canals and gorgeous Dutch architecture.  It’s quite a different feeling than Venice, and is a much more lived-in city. I have a big birthday coming up and my whole family is flying in to help me celebrate! Paris and Amsterdam are the two big European flight hubs and my cousin is studying abroad in Amsterdam, so we had a fabulous few days exploring the city with my family (just missing my younger brother and his girlfriend who are finishing up exams but will arrive today)!   I’m so glad to have […]

Weekend in the Lagoon City

|Location: Venice Italy| We recently headed to Venice, the Lagoon City for a weekend date getaway.  Venice is the perfect place to wander and take in the beautiful scenery, eat delicious multi-course meals, and savor la dolce far niente, the sweetness of doing nothing with the one you love. : ) We had fabulous outdoor meals, sipped cappuccinos in the sun, and wandered the city hand in hand.  It was perfect!  We had great spring weather with a high of 60F all weekend and it felt warm with the sun shining bright all day long.  It was nice to not […]

Innsbruck, the Perfect Weekend Getaway

|Location: Innsbruck, Austria| Innsbruck is an amazing little town nestled in the Austrian Alps that has so much to offer, but often gets overlooked as a European destination.  I think it’s the perfect weekend getaway and should not be missed, no matter the season!  This Alpine town is so picturesque, you’ll be pinching yourself in disbelief!  What makes it unique to me is that it is a true city in the mountains. We visited in the spring which ended up being perfect.  Blue skies and sunshine warmed the colorful town juxtaposed against the snowy mountains on every side.  People were […]

Exploring the Burgundy Region

|Location: Dijon, Lyon, and Beaune, France| Burgundy needs no introduction, it’s one of the most famous wine regions of the world most famous for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes.  I’ve been wanting to explore the French Burgundy region for a while and we finally committed to exploring the cutest towns of Dijon, Lyon, and Beaune the other week!  I of course want to go back when the weather is warmer and that shouldn’t be a problem as Dijon is only a 4 hour drive from Stuttgart and Lyon, further south, is 6 hours away.  We explored it by car but […]

Why I Love Paris in the Winter

There’s no doubt Paris can be enjoyed all year long, but I have to admit I love strolling this city in the winter.  After the Christmas season has come and gone, the city becomes authentic and it feels like we have it to ourselves.  Walk into virtually any restaurant and get a table, skip the crowds and say au revoir to waiting in long lines.  Soldes, the French sales are happening and make Parisian shopping even more exciting.  The opera season is in full swing and there’s a good chance you’ll be able to catch a show at the dazzling […]
