Exploring Ibiza Town

If you’re in the White Isle and need a break from the sun and beaches or the weather isn’t perfect, head on over to Ibiza town for a fun afternoon of exploring!  It is a picture perfect hilltop town with narrow, windy cobblestone roads, white houses with colorful shutters, and a castle on top. Crossover into the historic old town via drawbridge into the walled town. We spent our last afternoon exploring the narrow paths, popping in and out of cute boho shops, and admiring the colorful town.  Ibiza is covered in gorgeous fuschia flowers everywhere, making for even more pops of […]

Mercedes Cup Stuttgart

Sports fans in Stuttgart are very happy this week between the Mercedes Cup tennis tournament and the World Cup kickoff, there’s a lot to watch and a lot of excitement!  Last weekend we decided to check out the Mercedes Cup and made a ‘day-date’ out of it! The Mercedes Cup is an ATP World Tour tennis tournament on grass courts.  The tournament is sponsored by Mercedes and the winner of the tournament gets prize money and a new car!  We hadn’t been before and wanted to check it out since it’s local and the tournament brings some big names to Stuttgart […]

Stuttgart Spotlight: Schlossgarten

|Location: Stuttgart Germany| If you live in a city you’re likely well aware of how important city parks are.  A great park is essential to making a good city great and Stuttgart delivers big with the Schlossgarten.  It is massive and one of my favorite parts of the city.  Going for a run through the beautiful Schlossgarten is very therapeutic for me so I wanted to highlight it in case you’re not aware of it! The Schlossgarten is very accessible and begins right behind the Schlossplatz.  Tuck behind the Schloss to head to the Opera house and you’re at the […]

Skiing the Portes du Soleil

|Location: Chatel, France| Skiing the Portes du Soleil is one of my favorite winter vacations living in Stuttgart.  The ski area is quite large with a lot of connecting villages.  You can even ski from France into Switzerland and back within the day which I think is pretty awesome.  The Savoy region is an easy five hour drive from Stuttgart (well… that’s assuming you don’t put the wrong hotel into Google maps and drive an extra 2 hours through snowy Alpine switchbacks fearing your death… then drive two hours backtracking through the snowy switchbacks.  Long story you’ll have to ask […]

Skiing in Verbier, Switzerland

We headed to the Swiss Alps for a long weekend of skiing, friends, après-ski, birthday celebrations, and tons of gorgeous alpine views.  It was packed full of pure winter bliss! Verbier is an alpine ski town that sits at 1500m in the south-west of Switzerland.  The area is close to France and the Chamonix / Mont Blanc region and French is spoken.  It is one village of les 4 Vallées, or the four valleys, with two main lifts taking you to the slopes from town, but connects to other mountains of the four valleys. We spent our time on the […]

Christmas Market Cheer

When winter rolls in, everyone in Europe waits in anticipation for the Christmas markets to begin.  Luckily for us, Christmas markets originated in Germany and there are a plethora of markets to get you into the Holiday spirit.  I’ve made a list of my top four Christmas markets in Europe with a ton of information on each! Stuttgarter Weihnachtsmarkt There’s always something to celebrate in Germany, and the Christmas season brings the most magical celebrations with Christmas markets in every German town.  The German Weihnachtsmarkt, or Christmas market, is something everyone needs to experience at least once.  If you’re lucky […]

Where to Stay and Eat in Piemonte Italy

Make sure to read about what to do in the Piemonte in my post here! Stay If you visit the Piemonte area, make sure to stay in an Agriturismo, or a working farm house.  Agriturismos are similar to a B&B in the states.  They are small family run homes that own land (maybe farmland or in this region vineyards, fruit trees, and hazelnut trees) and are allowed to rent out rooms of their home for supplemental income not to exceed 50%.  You get to live with very accommodating locals, surrounded by vineyards.  It is heaven on earth. The past two […]

Italy’s Best Wine Region: Piemonte

Psst… I’m going to let you in on a secret.  Italy’s best wine region?  It’s not Tuscany.  It’s further north, halfway between Milan and Nice, France.  I’m talking about the gorgeous rolling hills of Barbaresco and Barolo, Italy, the region known as The Langhe! Want to spend time unwinding amongst the rolling hills as far as the eye can see, drinking the best wine in Europe (in my opinion!), and eating delicious white truffles over tajarin or plin pasta all day long?  If yes, then the Langhe is for you my friends.  The Langhe is a geographic region in the […]
