A Season of Anticipation

I’ve been a bit quiet on the blog lately because I feel like we’ve been in a long season of ‘in-between’, waiting to come out on the other side and we just… aren’t… there yet.  I’ve started geting so anxious to feel some semblance of settled months after we made the big move from Stuttgart Germany to Charleston SC, yet have not quite felt it yet!

We packed up our Stuttgart home back on July 15th, said auf Weidersehen to a wonderful city and friends, and sent all of our belongings on a ship to sail across the ocean to Charleston, where they currently reside in shipping crates in some storage container, patiently waiting to be unboxed.

We started our home renovation on August 3rd, four days after we landed on US soil and are still inching closer to be able to move in (so close now!!!).   Meanwhile, we’ve been living in temporary furnished places bouncing around, not having our own stuff or feeling like we have our own life back.

Last but not least!  Amongst all of the change of moving to a new continent, reacclamaiting back to Charleston with reverse culture shock (during an election season, no less!) and not quite feeling like we belong back yet, new positions at work, and dealing with home renovation decisions, stress, tradesmen mistakes, appliances getting ruined, and all that comes with renovation stress (!), we have even MORE change coming our way!

We are expecting a little baby boy early Feburary 2021!

Add to all of the above a rapidly changing body, lots of doctor appointments, a new maternity wardrobe, and LOTS of anticipation for the near future!

To say I am ready to finally get into our house and be settled is an understatement!  I can’t wait to finally purchase items for baby’s nursery, fill up his closet with cute little baby clothes, and enjoy getting back into a rhythm, even if it will certainly look very different in a few months!

For now, I’ll just have to settle for the ‘in-between’, a season I have always had a hard time accepting. 😉

To getting settled rather quickly 🙂

xx
