Bali Tanah Lot Temple, Coffee Plantation, and Kecak Fire Dance

While we were staying in Canggu on the East coast of Bali, we spent an evening excursion visiting the gorgeous Tanah Lot temple.  It’s at a breathtaking location just off the coastline about a half hours drive north of Canggu.  We were able to book a driver to take us there through our wonderful hotel.

Luwok Coffee and Tea Plantation

On our drive up the coast to Tanah Lot our driver made a pitstop at Sari Amerta Luwok Coffee Plantation.  This seemed a little random to us at first but we highly enjoyed it.  The grounds are beautiful and we learned about the different plants they use for natural remedies through warm teas and coffees.  After they walk you through the grounds, they had a tea and coffee tasting set up for us.  It was lovely!

As a bonus, they had the cutest perch for you to take a picture… Bali is full of “instagram spots” which tbh kind of bothered me throughout the trip because it seems like it distracts from the insane natural beauty, but, I do understand that’s how tourism works now.  We took the picture anyway and I like this one, even if I look crazy short! 🙂

Tanah Lot Temple

Tanah Lot Temple is an absolute must-see in Bali.  It is a temple on an island in the sea, just off of the rocky cliffside.  At low tide you can walk out to the temple and get a Hindu blessing, but as the tide comes in the water surrounds the temple and makes it an island.

When to Visit Tanah Lot

Hands down the best time to visit Tanah Lot is before sunset.  As you walk towards the water, there are plenty of stunning views to take in so you can leisurely stroll to the temple.  Once there, you can get a blessing if you’d like, and then admire the sun set behind the temple, against the water.  It is truly spectacular!  Balinese sunsets are something else.

While we were there the tide started coming in just as the sun was setting.  Most people started making their way back to higher ground but we stayed long enough to get some pretty epic shots with just us in them.  Our toes got a little wet but it was worth it!  We will cherish these pictures forever.

The bonus part about having a driver is he will take fabulous pictures of you and your hubby! <3

Kecak Fire Dance

Each evening after the sun sets, a Balinese Kecak Fire Dance begins just a short walk away.  Make sure you enjoy this!  We saw a few traditional dances during our Balinese holiday and this was probably my favorite.

I learned throughout our trip that the Balinese dances tell stories from Hindu lessons.  If you love to experience culture when you travel (and I hope you do!) then you need to see at least one dance!  All in all it was a fabulous evening!
