Ciao ciao friends!!! Since the epic Sardinia vacay, we celebrated David’s birthday in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, and Montenegro with friends, took a week back in the States for my brothers wedding (!!), and have been hanging around Stuttgart. I started thinking that I rarely post about my daily life in Stuttgart, and need to change that asap. Here’s a look into my daily musings around our city!
Walking through my neighborhood, I tried to capture some of my favorite buildings. The south side of Stuttgart has more historical buildings, while the north towards the Hauptbahnhof has much more modern high rises. Can you guess which side I like better? 😉
The gorgeous St Maria kirche looks stunning from every angle!
I love eyeing this cute plant store on my walk into town 😉 anyone else obsessed with banana leaves?
We make our cappuccinos at home every morning (and eat a cooked breakfast 7 days a week, ha! I don’t know many people who do that these days) so we rarely get cappuccinos out in town. When we do it’s almost always to Espressoladen! It’s a small store selling espresso machines, beans, and they have a bar you where you can order drinks. It feels very Italian and this past trip I even found Borbone espresso, which normally is only found in Napoli!
The farmers market is held Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturday in downtown Stuttgart and I love swinging by on Saturdays. We try to get our veggies here – they have the best, fresh selection and have a lot more variety than you can find in the grocery stores! Think swiss chard (Mangold in German), sometimes kale, purple, orange, and red carrots, fresh beets with the leaves still attached, and of course local honey!
The farmers market is in the Marktplatz and Schillerplatz hosts the flower market plus some farmers. I personally love Schillerplatz, there are two vendors we buy from there and I love browsing all of the gorgeous flowers!
After the outdoor farmers and flower markets, I always love peeking into Merz & Benzing for more flower and home inspiration. It is the prettiest store to wander through if you haven’t been! They change their home decor seasonally and sell fun table linens, glassware, dinnerware, candles, pillows, and more. It’s one of my favorite stores in the city to browse.
I day dream of buying these cappuccino cups in a make a mix-and-match sea of blue colors…
If you walk into the Markthalle, Merz & Benzing also has the most gorgeous stand! Talk about plant goals. I think plants and candles (that are actually used) really make a home feel like home!
The Markthalle is home to my favorite Spanish stall as well
The Stuttgarter Weindorf is held every year in late August – early September to celebrate all of the local vineyards and make room for the new wines! It is a nice time and easy way to meet up with friends, but to my surprise this year it was PACKED every evening, no matter the day of the week! We went one Saturday afternoon and had no problem getting a seat and enjoying ourselves. It was much more comfortable to me than going during the weekday evenings and being packed in like sardines. Is it just me, or did it seem a ton more crowded this year than years past?
My favorite tent is Currles, they are in between Marktplatz and Schillerplatz. The food is very reasonably priced, their menu is large and of course the wine is great!
We sat right on the edge of the tent near the walk way, and a clown started putting on a show right in front of us. He was actually hillarious! The poor city goers fell prey to his jokes, but it was all in good fun and he had our entire tent laughing out loud. 🙂
I took a few runs through the Schlossgarten, my favorite! She is always such a beauty.
And I had to post a picture of Dave and I’s favorite lunch date spot. How picturesque is this place?!
Esslingen in that perfect pre-fall light… swoon. This build up to fall time of year is seriously the best! Well, after proper fall that is. 🙂
Have you eaten at L’Osteria in Esslingen? It’s the restaurant seen above, you can dine outside right on the Neckar River. It is so wonderful!
We’ve had a few rooftop get togethers over the late summer but hardly ever take pictures! This time we finally did. It started as an impromptu brunch party and turned into a fun afternoon spent on the rooftop. So lucky to have these views and friends! <3
Lastly, this gorgeous time of year brings the BEST sunrises and sunsets. I can’t help capturing it when it comes! Mornings and evenings at home are the best this time of year!!!
I hope you are enjoying this late summer and pre fall time of year! Fall is the best season ever and I love this build up to it here in Germany!
