I was very fortunate to have my entire family come out to celebrate my big 3-0, and I convinced them all to come help me celebrate in my favorite island, Ibiza. 😉
Ibiza is the perfect vacation spot in my humble opinion! It is a relatively small island in the Mediterranean which means it’s surrounded by gorgeous beaches all within a 10-40 minute drive, and the perfect size to explore. Each beach has it’s own unique landscape and vibe. There are sandy beaches, beaches surrounded by tree-lined cliffs, or by red rocky cliffs, and almost all include turquoise blue water. Every beach has nice open air restaurants to dine alfresco with good house music playing, and even some beachside shopping.
If you’re tired of beaches, then Ibiza town will delight you. The old town winds and wraps up a hill overlooking the port and south side of the island, with a castle perched on top where the Spaniards used to defend themselves from oncoming ships many years ago. The shops in town as well as on the beaches sell breezy, colorful boho clothing, there’s lots of restaurants, and the atmosphere just makes me happy. If you’re looking for a relaxing beach vacation, you can totally do that in Ibiza and explore the island visiting a different beach with stunning turquoise water every day.
On the other hand, if you’re looking to dance yourself silly to the best club music in Europe (the world?) until 6 in the morning, Ibiza is just your spot ;). This is what makes Ibiza my most favorite place, the gorgeous beaches by day and the best music scene by night. Dancing makes me so happy and the Ibiza clubs are next level. They are more of a production, with tons of surprises for you while you dance to the music.
So that explanation is how I managed to convince my amazing parents to give the ‘okay’ to have a family vacation in Ibiza! Everyone flew in to Amsterdam first since flights were cheapest and where my cousin is studying abroad, so we made a mini vacation out of that on the front end.
We like to stay on the south side of Ibiza near Playa d’en Bossa because it is a quick drive to the town, a few beaches, the night clubs, and even the airport. We rented a beautiful villa for the week from Wednesday to Tuesday at Villa Elena with the sweetest owner.
Not only is the Villa very spacious, sleek, and beautiful, the owner was also so helpful and checked in every so often via WhatsApp to make sure everything was great. We were celebrating two birthdays that week so she even left us two bottles of cava in the fridge. We loved having a nice place to cook and hang out in!
Thursday was my Mom’s birthday and we finally had the whole group together. We spent the day at our local beach, Playa d’en Bossa and then celebrated with a dinner in pretty Ibiza town, then came back and had a fun night at the house hanging out with everyone!
Friday was my birthday (yes, my mom and I share birthdays one day apart, I love it!) and it also just so happened to be the once-a-year Dalt Villa party, an open air party on top of Ibiza town at the castle and overlooking the port.
We headed to ses Salines beach but it turned cloudy on us so after sticking it out for a bit, we came back to the house when of course the sun came back out! We had a leisurely afternoon hanging out by the pool, grilled out, and had some birthday celebrations.
Dave surprised us with Cristal for the celebration haha ^^
After we had our champagne we headed to the Dalt Vila party! It is held once a year and is the unofficial kickoff to summer in Ibiza. It’s an open-air party on top of Ibiza town set against the castle. Sven Väth headlined and we had a great time!
Group at the Dalt Vila party^^ …and the best photobomb ever below 🙂
More Ibiza posts from the rest of our week coming soon. Cheers to 30!
