Sardinia Itinerary Part 1: Santa Teresa di Gallura and Rena Bianca Beach

Ciao ciao friends!  I just got back from the most incredible summer holiday to Sardinia!  To be honest, I didn’t really know what Sardinia had to offer before we arrived – we saw the decently priced, direct flights from Stuttgart to a destination both Dave and I hadn’t been to before – but once there I was absolutely blown away by it’s incredible natural beauty.  Aren’t those the best kind of trips?  I’ve been telling anyone who will listen that this has been my favorite vacation of my life, and that holds a lot of weight! Planning Your Trip: The […]

Guide to Mykonos

Hey friends!! It’s been a while but I have lots to share 🙂 . I hope you’ve been well through the spring season!  Spring here in Germany is always very slow to turn from winter, which is why I was so excited to finally get back to one of my favorite locals, Mykonos Greece to celebrate my birthday in style! This was our third trip to Mykonos!  Dave and I have spent my 25th, 28th, and now 31st birthdays there.  If you’re living in Europe and want beach weather at the end of May, Greece really is your best bet.  […]

We Bought a Home!

Hello friends!  I have some exciting news… Dave and I bought our first HOME!!!! 🙂 We are so incredibly excited but as with everything we do, we seem to do it in not the most traditional fashion (ie, getting married in a hurricane with the entire city shut down… a story for another time!).  We are still living in Stuttgart and we bought in Charleston, our favorite city in the world, where we moved from, and where we will return after our stint in Germany. I admit it is a little odd that we bought while still overseas… but hey, […]

How to Spend an Authentic Day in Sevilla

Sevilla, Spain had some of the most intense culture I have ever come across!  I found that everything Sevillanos do, they do with an intense passion and it is so inspiring.  Sevilla is such a beautiful city with TONS to offer beyond the typical city blocks and fabulous tapas bars.  We had the best day filled with the royal gardens, some Game of Thrones scouting, horse and carriage rides, a bull fight (!) and ended with a flamenco show, a dance that originated in Sevilla.  Whew!  Are you ready? Spend Time in the Royal Alcazar and Gardens Simply put, the […]

My Favorite Charleston Restaurants

Charleston is no doubt a foodie heaven, which is one of the (many) reasons it takes the cake for my favorite city in the US… and tied with Paris as my favorite in the world. 😉  With absolutely delicious, local restaurants everywhere you turn, sunshine and salty breezes, pastel buildings and palm trees, a happening downtown and three distinct beach towns, Charleston really has my heart! If you didn’t know,  we lived in Charleston before moving to Stuttgart.  We recently spent a week back in the Holy City so I figured I’d round up my favorite restaurants for y’all.  There […]

Cheesy Pit Stop in Gruyères, Switzerland

Don’t you love it when you are pleasantly surprised by something? That’s how I felt when we were driving along our route to ski in Chamonix, France and spotted signs on the highway for a town called Gruyères, Switzerland.  Could it be, a town named after the famed cheese?  The cheese that’s used in gooey fondues, baked on top of delicious French onion soups, and used in the best ham and cheese crepes?  One of my all time favorites? Why yes, that’s exactly what it is. It’s not every day you have this kind of opportunity.  We decided to take advantage of […]

Skiing Chamonix

We had a fabulous long weekend skiing in Chamonix Mont Blanc, France.  It was our first time to the famous mountain and we loved it! The Town Chamonix Mont Blanc is an Alpine valley town and has 4 main ski lift areas, spread about 50 minutes end-to-end.  Chamonix overall is a functioning town, which is different than many alpine ski locations we’ve been to that consist mostly of ski chalets.  There is plenty to do for non-skiers from shopping, exploring ice caves, viewing Mont Blanc from the highest platform of the area, at the Anguille du Midi, and even a phenomenal […]

Expat Life: the Haircut

If you’ve ever lived in a foreign country, you quickly realize that simple things, such as picking up a few items at the grocery store or getting a dress taken in, are not so simple in a foreign language.  Grocery shopping when I first moved to Germany always included my Google translate app in my hand, and trips to the seamstress or tailor included practicing uncommon technical seamstress phrases at home beforehand. It’s not by coincidence that I’ve let my hair grow much longer in Germany than I would have ever let it in the states – it’s not that […]
